Workplace Ergonomics:
There is much ergonomic research that has yielded new, definitive and positive ergonomic design guidelines. Unfortunately, this research is very rarely applied to new equipment or in the engineering modification process.Corporations can benefit greatly by implementing an ergonomic friendly workplace. They are relatively inexpensive and have a high return on investment. Returns include increased employee satisfaction, enhanced office productivity and reduced risk of liability.
We can provide specific resources to prevent the occurrence of work-related musculoskeletal disorders in your facility. Our services and training techniques are practical, efficient, and economical.
Office Ergonomics:
As a result of the increase of computer work in industry - there has been an explosion of cumulative trauma disorders (CTDs) in the office environment. These CTDs are associated with repeated or sustained exertions in awkward or static postures and primarily involve the neck, arms, hands and occasionally the back. An average of 33% of people experience discomfort while working at their desk. Many times office ergonomics issues are not considered as important as industrial issues. However, our approach to a computer user is similar to that of an industrial worker - we identify risks and develop recommendations.
By using a combination of awareness training, behavioral coaching, and workstation evaluations can significantly reduce (if not eliminate) these work-related injuries.
In Either case, The process includes the same comprehensive plan:
Organizing - Gathering information about the work site and employees related to their tasks- Training - Explanations and demonstrations of proper mechanics at work stations/tasks
- Communications - With employees and employers about suggested ergonomic plans, including feedback after a change is implemented
- Task Analysis - Communicate with employees about job task complaints, physical discomfort, and review of work injuries. Take surveys of employees related to their tasks.
- Make Job Improvements - Based on information gathered.
- Communicate with medical staff - To address the plan for treatment of work inuries
- Monitor process progress - Over a 3 month, 6 month and 12 month period.
